Anaheim Recalls Luca Sbisa; Assigns Danny Syvret to Crunch

Syracuse, NY (November 10, 2010) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Anaheim Ducks have recalled defenseman Luca Sbisa and assigned defenseman Danny Syvret to the Crunch.

Sbisa, 20, has appeared in eight games for the Crunch this season and is tied for the team lead in scoring with nine points (2g, 7a). He has also skated in two games for Anaheim this season, going scoreless with two penalty minutes. Sbisa has played 49 career NHL games with Anaheim and Philadelphia, recording seven assists and 44 penalty minutes.

The 6-2, 207-pound blueliner began last season with Anaheim, going scoreless with six penalty minutes in eight contests. He split the remainder of the season with Lethbridge and Portland of the Western Hockey League (WHL), collecting 18 points (4g, 14a) with 29 penalty minutes in 29 games. In 13 WHL Playoff games with Portland, he added 4 points (2g, 2a). Selected by Philadelphia in the first round, 19th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Sbisa was acquired along with Joffrey Lupul, a first-round selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft (Kyle Palmieri), a first-round selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft (Emerson Etem), and a conditional third-round selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft from Philadelphia in exchange for Chris Pronger on June 26, 2009.

Syvret, 25, has appeared in four games for the Crunch this season, recording two assists and four penalty minutes. He has also skated in six games for the Ducks this season, earning 2 points (1g, 1a) with four penalty minutes. Syvret made his Anaheim debut on October 20 in Columbus after being recalled on October 19 and scored his first goal as a Duck on October 23 at Detroit.

Signed by Anaheim to a one-year contract on July 21, 2010, Syvret appeared in 21 games for the Philadelphia Flyers last season, earning 4 points (2g, 2a) with a plus-1 rating and 12 penalty minutes. Syvret's first career NHL goal was the opening tally of the 2010 Bridgestone Winter Classic on January 1 at Fenway Park, a 2-1 Flyers loss to the Boston Bruins. Syvret scored his second career goal two games later in a 6-2 win over Toronto on January 6 at Wachovia Center. He spent the remainder of the season with Philadelphia's AHL affiliate in Adirondack, picking up 13 points (5g, 8a) with six penalty minutes in 15 games.

The Crunch finish up a four-game road trip by traveling to Albany on Friday, November 12 before returning home to face Hershey on Saturday, November 13 at 7:30 p.m. at The Oncenter War Memorial Arena.
