Canucks Recall Mario Bliznak

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, today announced they have recalled centre Mario Bliznak from the Moose.

Bliznak, 23, has played in 13 games so far this season with the Moose where he has collected four points (1g, 3a) along with four penalty minutes. He's currently on a three-game point streak (1g, 2a) that began Nov. 3/10 in Hamilton. Last season, the Trencin, Slovakia native appeared in his first NHL game with the Vancouver Canucks on Nov. 1/09 against the Colorado Avalanche. Bliznak recorded no points in his two game call-up with the Canucks.

Bliznak has played in 153 career games with Manitoba in his three-year pro career. He has scored 48 points (21g, 27a) and collected 68 penalty minutes. He has also played in 27 career Calder Cup playoff games with the Moose where he scored eight points (5g, 3a) and 10 penalty minutes.

Bliznak was originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the seventh round, 205th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
