
Amos Magee Joins D.C. United as U-23 Head Coach and Assistant Coach to the First Team

Washington, D.C. (March 7, 2014) - D.C. United today announced Amos Magee as the new U-23 Head Coach and Assistant Coach to the First Team. Magee joins the Black-and-Red after two seasons as the Head Coach of the Portland Timbers Reserves as well as an Assistant Coach for the Timbers First Team.
"Amos has had success at every level of soccer here in the United States," said D.C. United Head Coach Ben Olsen. "He brings great knowledge of the game, and we are excited to have him join our staff."
Magee, a St. Paul, Minn., native, attended Wesleyan University and is the all-time leading scorer (35 goals and 85 points) for the Cardinals, as well as a member of the Wesleyan University Hall of Fame. After college, he played for United Soccer League (USL) side Minnesota Thunder for 12 seasons becoming its all-time leading goal scorer (64) en route to being inducted in the USL Hall of Fame in 2008. After his time with the Thunder, he had several loan stints with Major League Soccer (MLS) sides Tampa Bay Mutiny and Chicago Fire.
Magee began his coaching career with the Minnesota Thunder in 2006, and in 2007 led the U.S. Maccabi squad to a gold medal in the 2007 Pan American Maccabiah in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2008, he was named Director of Soccer Development for the Portland Timbers, then a USL side, until being named Head Coach of the Timbers Reserves in 2011.
