Americans Shut Out Wichita 4-0 On Mcdonald's Night In Allen

ALLEN, Texas- The Allen Americans shut out the Wichita Thunder 4-0 on Friday night at Allen Event Center, earning their 33rd victory of the season.

The Americans took a 1-0 lead 11:46 into the first when Jarret Lukin poked one into the Wichita goal, scoring his 15th of the season. Jason Deitsch and Trevor Hendrikx earning the assists. They would end the period with a 2-0 lead with Brian McMillin hammering one home from Jarret Lukin and Jason Deitsch, who earned his 500th career point on that goal.

In the second, Anthony Maiani would further extend the Americans lead to 3-0 with an unassisted goal at the 10:32 mark. It was Maiani's team leading 52nd point. Wichita held a 21-18 shot advantage after two periods of play.

Maiani would finish out the scoring at 17:08 of the third from Trevor Ludwig and Aaron Dell. For Dell that was his first career point, and his third career shutout, moving him into first place all-time on the Americans shutout list. With the victory Allen remains five points up on second place Fort Worth, and is now eight points up on the third place Wichita.

Americans Side Notes - Jason Deitsch collected his 500th career point, assisting on Brian McMillin's goal in the second period. Anthony Maiani extended his point streak to six games with two goals on Friday night. Maiani leads the team in points with 53. Aaron Dell became the all-time shutout leader in Americans history with his third of the season, passing Chris Whitley, Charlie Effinger, and Reggie Beauchemin. Dell also picked up his first career point assisting on Anthony Maiani's second goal. Darryl Bootland returned from the IR on Friday night, while Alex Penner was released by the Americans.
