
Rapid City Tops Arizona with 3-2 Win

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs lost Saturday night as Rush topped the Sundogs with a 4-2 win at Tim's Toyota Center in front of 2,780 fans.
The Rapid City Rush tallied two goals halfway through the opening frame when Kyle Peto scored 5:24 into the first period with a wrister. 1:29 later Jesse Schultz scored for Rush giving them the early lead. Johan Ryd put Arizona on the board with a power play goal after Jamie VanderVeeken was issued two minutes for slashing. Cody Purves and Jeff Kyrzakos each picked up the assists.
Scott Wray scored Rapid City's game-winning goal less than two minutes into the second period. Jason Morgan closed the Sundogs' gap 44 seconds into the final period scoring the Sundogs second goal. Ryd and Purves each collected their second point of the night.
With 1:03 remaining in regulation Arizona pulled goaltender David Brown looking to capitalize on the man advantage but ultimately, Schultz scored an empty net goal, his second goal of the night.
Brown took the loss for the Sundogs making 27 saves. Rapid City outshot Arizona 31-28. Arizona was 1-3 on the power play and Rapid City was 0-2 on power play. The Sundogs will embark on a 10 day road trip, playing five games in three cities before returning home to conclude their 2012-13 regular season.
