Rapid City Rush News Release

(Prescott Valley, AZ) - With only eleven games left in the 2012-13 regular season, it's no secret that the Rapid City Rush prefer low-scoring affairs. The team received just that on Friday night in a 2-0 victory over the Arizona Sundogs at Tim's Toyota Center, spearheaded by goaltender Tim Boron's 29-save shutout effort. The Rush have now won seven of their last nine and retain possession of fourth place in the Berry Conference. Both teams collide again tomorrow at 7:05pm MST and the game can be heard live on 100.3 the FOX or foxradio.com.

Rush defenseman Riley Weselowski continued to show his offensive upside, picking up his fifth point in the last three games. Good puck movement by Jesse Schultz and Jared Brown set up Weselowski at the right point for a shot through a screen to give Rapid City a 1-0 lead 13:38 in.

It took until the 8:16 mark of the third, but the Rush finally opened up some breathing room on the Sundogs. Winston Day Chief set up a two-on-one for Jesse Schultz who made a stellar toe-drag past a defender before setting up Jared Brown for his fifteenth of the season and the 2-0 lead.

Tim Boron turned aside twenty-two shots in the final 40 minutes to preserve the fifteenth shutout in franchise history. The shutout marks the goaltender's second of the season and ninth of his career.
