Americans Open Road Trip with 6-2 Win over Moose Jaw

The Tri-City Americans opened their East Division road trip Saturday with a 6-2 victory in Moose Jaw, extending their win streak to four games, as six different players found the net for the Americans.

Lukas Dragicevic opened scoring five minutes into the game with a hard shot from the high slot, set up by Jordan Gavin and Ethan Ernst.

Dragicevic, a 17-year-old defenseman, was recently named a 'B' rated prospect by NHL Central Scouting for the 2023 NHL Draft. [READ]

Tri-City held their 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

Denton Mateychuk, a prospect of the Columbus Blue Jackets, evened the game for Moose Jaw five minutes into the second period.

Tri-City regained their lead halfway through the period as Parker Bell, a Calgary Flames prospect, scored on a breakout opportunity.

Two minutes later, Drew Freer extended Tri-City's lead to 3-1 as he swept the puck behind him and past the blocker of Warriors goaltender Jackson Unger. It was the 17-year-old forward's first goal in the WHL.

Maximus Wanner scored for Moose Jaw with a slap shot over the left glove of Tomas Suchanek, cutting Tri-City's lead to 3-2 leading into the second intermission.

Saskatchewan-native Ethan Ernst extended Tri-City's lead three minutes into the final period with the Ams' first shorthanded goal of the season. The 20-year-old forward lost control of the puck on a breakaway opportunity, but managed to score as it slipped five-hole on Jackson Unger.

Tyson Greenway added to the lead as Parker Bell deflected a shot from Lukas Dragicevic and Tyson Greenway banged home the rebound.

The Americans scored one last time as Marc Lajoie's shot was stopped by Unger, but Jake Sloan's rebound chance slip across the crease to Adam Mechura who put it home.

Tri-City out shot their opponent for the second time this season, 39-32.

Tomas Suchanek turned aside 30 of 32 shots faced, earning his fourth straight victory in net.
