Americans Buck Bucks 4-2 For Sixth Straight Win

ALLEN, Texas-Squaring off against the Laredo Bucks for the second straight night, the first place Allen Americans earned their sixth straight victory by a score of 4-2 in front of 4,712 at the Allen Event Center tonight.

Laredo's Ryan Bennett put the Bucks on top 1-0 7:03 into the first period after finding the loose puck in the crease and tapping it past a sprawled out Scott Campbell.

David Strathman's wrister from the circle eluded Laredo netminder David Wilson and found the back of the net to tie the game at 1 with 3:00 remaining in the opening frame. Bruce Graham and Colton Yellow Horn were credited with the assists on the play.

Scott Campbell finished the opening period with 7 saves on 8 shots while David Wilson stopped 8 of 9.

Neil Trimm scored the second period's only goal with 2:58 remaining in the frame to give the Bucks a 2-1 lead through forty minutes of play.

The Americans came out firing in the third period and tied the score at 2 1:21 into the frame when Colton Yellow Horn blasted Bruce Graham's cross-ice feed past Wilson. The goal was Yellow Horn's sixteenth of the season.

Twenty seconds after the Americans had killed off a crucial Bucks power play, Bruce Graham broke into the Laredo zone and wristed the puck over Wilson's shoulder to give the Americans their first lead of the night with 10:45 remaining in regulation. The goal was Graham's nineteenth tally of the season.

Jarret Lukin's empty-net goal with 3.7 seconds remaining in regulation put the Americans on top 4-2 and ended any hopes of a Bucks comeback.

Scott Campbell finished the night with 17 saves on 19 shots and is now 7-2 with the Americans this season. Colton Yellow Horn extended his point streak to 6 games with a goal and an assist on the night and has now registered 14 points (4g, 10a) during the streak.

The Americans improve to 30-7-1 with the win and continue to lead the Berry Conference and the Central Hockey League with 61 points.

The Americans will complete their three games in three days weekend tomorrow afternoon with a 2:00 PM face-off against the Rapid City Rush at the Allen Event Center. Allen will then welcome the Tulsa Oilers on Wednesday night at 7:30 PM followed by a tilt with the Texas Brahmas on Friday night at 7:30 PM.
