Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - It was a great awakening for the Brahmas offense Saturday night in Hidalgo that proved to be necessary in their 5-4 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. Four Texas players finished with two points for the game (Hogeboom, Deitsch, Lawrence and McArthur).

The Southern Conference match up was scoring affair that began with a Rio goal from Dan Gendur. Seven minutes later Greg Hogeboom evened things up with a powerplay goal for a 1-1 score. Before the first concluded the Killer Bees went up once again when Tyler Lehrke beat Wayne Savage with a feed from Zak McClellan and Aaron Lee.

Twenty-one seconds into the middle frame Alex Curran gave Texas their second goal of the game, but the bench was unable to celebrate for very long as the Bee powerplay unit went on the job two minutes later and converted to regain the lead. Hogeboom found the back of the net, his second of the night, at the 6:17 mark in the second to take a 3-3 tie into the second intermission.

Texas earned their first lead of the game with a Chad Woollard goal midway through the third and never looked back. Brahmas forward Mick Lawrence closed the doors with a goal at the 12:31 mark for the 5-4 road win. Texas' defense buckled down in the third giving up just nine shots on net and a powerplay goal from Aaron Lee.

The Brahmas return home to the NYTEX Sports Centre tomorrow afternoon for Faith and Family Day against the Fort Wayne Komets. MLB slugger Vernon Wells will be the featured postgame speaker following the 4 pm faceoff. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com.
