
Killer Bees Dropped By Brahmas 5-4

Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
HIDALGO, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (17-23-3) were tripped up by the Texas Brahmas (20-14-4) by a 5-4 score on Saturday night. The Brahmas scored two goals in the third period in a 1:03 time frame to build a two goal lead. Aaron Lee would get a late goal for the Bees but the Brahmas would hold off the Bees for the win.
Dan Gendur got the Bees on the board first at 8:48 with a goal in his first game back since January 8th. Tomas Klempa cleared the puck forward to Aaron Lewicki. Lewicki brought the puck into the zone and left it behind him for Gendur who ripped a shot past Brahmas goalie Wayne Savage.
The Brahmas would tie the game at 15:19 of the first with a power-play goal by Greg Hogeboom. Hogeboom took a loose from at the blue line and fired it on net and through traffic scored.
The Bees would retake the lead at 17:52 of the first when Tyler Lehrke scored his sixth goal of the season. Zak McClellan held the puck along the far side hash marks and seeing an open Tyler Lehrke rifled the puck across the ice. Lehrke wasted no time one-timing the puck past Savage.
The Brahmas tied the game 21 seconds into the second period after an Alex Curran shot was deflected on its way to Juliano Pagliero.
It wouldn't take the Bees two minutes to retake the lead as Bo Cheesman scored his first goal as a Killer Bee. While on the power-play Darcy Campbell took a shot on net that Savage was able to knock down but Cheesman put the loose puck behind Savage.
The Brahmas would once again tie the game as Greg Hogeboom snuck behind the Killer Bees defense and after a Chad Wollard pass beat Juliano Pagliero blocker side from inside the faceoff circle.
After two periods of play the two teams were tied at three goals apiece.
Texas would score the first two goals of the third period including the Mick Lawrence goal that would prove to be the game winner. Texas scored at 11:2 and 12:31 of the third to take a 5-3 lead.
Aaron Lee scored a power-play goal at 18:05 of give the Bees new life and cutting the lead down to one goal. Jason Deitsch would take a penalty with 1:01 remaining in the game giving the Bees the man advantage to end the game.
The Bees would get a few changes on net, including hitting the post once, but the Brahmas were able to hold on for the win beating the Bees 5-4.
