
Bagron Bags Overtime Winner Over RiverKings

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- Bill Bagron's goal 52 seconds into overtime secured a 4-3 victory for the Bloomington PrairieThunder over the Mississippi RiverKings in Central Hockey League play on Saturday, January 29th at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven.
Mississippi took a 2-1 lead in the first period on goals from Patrik Levesque and Darrell Stoddard. Jason Deleurme opened the scoring for Bloomington at 2:51 of the first for a 1-0 PrairieThunder lead.
But, Levesque with his 15th red-lighter of the year at 9:15 for a 1-1 tie and Stoddard converted his eighth of the year just past the mid-point of the period at 10:05 for the first intermission advantage.
Bloomington came out in the second period and tied the game on the first of two consecutive goals from Jon Booras. His first goal came on the power play at 14:48 to tie the game at 2-2 heading into the final frame. Booras scored his second of the night and 14th of the season at 1:09 of the third frame for a 3-2 Bloomington lead.
However, the RiverKings rallied back and tied the game on a power play goal from Matt Summers at 4:20 of the third period. Summers netted his league-leading 11th power play goal and 17th overall.
Neither team scored after that until the overtime period, when Bagron took the only shot of the extra session for his ninth goal of the year and first game-winner.
Bloomington outshot the RiverKings 23-20 for the night, as winning goaltender Marco Emond (19-9-1) stopped 17 shots on goal for the P-Thunder. RiverKings' goalie Larry Sterling made 19 saves, but saw his record fall to 10-8-2.
Mississippi was 1-for-7 on the power play and Bloomington scored once in only two power play chances.
The RiverKings nine-game home stand continues this coming weekend when Tulsa comes to the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven for a pair of games, both Friday and Saturday nights at 7:05 PM. Saturday's game is Southland Park Gaming and Racing Night, supporting Mid-South Greyhound Adoption Option.
