NEW YORK -- The Arena Football League (AFL) and American Media today announced a partnership to publish the 2005 AFL Preview magazine, the first-ever publication of its kind for the AFL. It will go on sale January 4, 2005 with a cover price of $3.95.

Known for its high-scoring, non-stop action, the AFL is affordable, fan-friendly football. The League has teams in 17 major markets, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Jose, Dallas and Atlanta. The AFL enters its 19th season in 2005 and its third on NBC. AFL ownership includes rock star Jon Bon Jovi and former Denver Broncos legend John Elway, along with five NFL owners who will operate teams in 2005.

The 2005 AFL Preview magazine is the official preview issue for a league with some of the most loyal fans. AFL attendance reached an all-time high in 2004 with over 1.9 million fans attending games. The 12,024 average attendance represented a 31-percent increase since 2001. NBC continues to provide unprecedented exposure to the AFL, broadcasting more than 50 games on a regional basis last season, the second-most games on network television by any professional sports league behind only the NFL.

The magazine, including a fantasy football preview, will be a major resource for all AFL fans, viewers and fantasy players through ArenaBowl XIX, which will be played on June 12 in Las Vegas, the AFL's first-ever neutral site championship game. It will have a print run of 500,000 copies and focused distribution around the 17 AFL markets.
