St. Paul 2, Chicago 1 (15 Innings) - Box Score
Shortstop Chris Baker singled home LF/SS Blake Schmit with the game winning run in the bottom of the 15th inning as St. Paul defeated Chicago, 2-1. With the victory, the Saints go three games up on the Dogs for the second spot in the North Division.
Schmit was hit by a pitch to leadoff the inning. The next batter, CF Dan Motl, came up and sacrificed Schmit over to second base with one out. After RF Michael Lang flew out to center field for the second out, DH Brady Shoemaker was intentionally walked. Baker then came to the plate and singled to right field to bring Schmit in from second base and give St. Paul the walk-off win.
Saints 3B Chesny Young went 2-for-5 with an RBI while Shoemaker and Lang each collected a pair of hits.
St. Paul pitcher Chris Lee tossed five innings of scoreless relief and claimed the win. The southpaw struck out one in the 60-pitch effort. Lee is now 2-0 on the 2019 season.
Kansas City 9, Sioux City 5 - Box Score
Kansas City jumped out to a 6-0 lead after 1 ½ innings of play and would coast from there to a 9-5 win over Sioux City. With the victory, the T-Bones have now won five straight and 17 out of their last 19 games.
There were 11 hits collected by Kansas City with 2B Dylan Tice leading the way going 4-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored and three RBIs. T-Bones DH Chris Colabello scored a run and drove in two in a 2-for-5 night while LF Danny Mars had two hits in four at-bats along with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Kansas City starting pitcher T.J. House allowed five earned runs in six innings of work and collected the win in his first outing with the team. House gave up a walk and nine hits while striking out seven in a 97-pitch performance.
For the Explorers in the loss, 3B Jose Sermo had a 2-for-3 night with two runs scored and four RBIs.
Milwaukee 1, Sioux Falls 0 - Box Score
Milwaukee starting pitcher Angel Ventura and two relievers combined on a four-hit shutout as the Milkmen defeated Sioux Falls, 1-0.
Ventura threw the first seven innings of the contest giving up the three hits while fanning seven batters in a 95-pitch performance. The bullpen duo of Manny Corpas and Myles Smith tossed the final two innings allowing a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. Ventura earned his sixth win of the season while Smith collected his 16th save.
Offensively for the Milwaukee, 2B/CF Derek Reddy and SS Sam Dexter each had 2-for-3 nights at the plate with Reddy driving in a run and Dexter plating one. Right fielder Adam Walker also chipped in with two hits for the Milkmen. Milwaukee scored the lone run in the fifth inning.
For Sioux Falls, leadoff hitter Brett Vertigan had a 2-for-4 outing.
Lincoln 5, Gary SouthShore 2 - Box Score
Lincoln starting pitcher John Brownell turned in a terrific performance on the mound in leading the Saltdogs to a 5-2 victory over Gary SouthShore.
Brownell was sensational tonight as he tossed his second complete game of the season. The University of Oklahoma product allowed two earned runs on six hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Brownell notched the win and is now 8-5 on the year.
For Lincoln offensively, SS Christian Ibarra led the way going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Saltdogs RF Cody Regis had a two-hit game, including a double, along with a run while 3B Josh Mazzola collected a base hit in four at-bats and tallied a run.
Designated hitter Randy Santiesteban had a 2-for-4 night with a run scored for the RailCats.
Fargo-Moorhead 11, Winnipeg 9 (11 Innings) - Box Score
Shortstop Carlos Garcia belted a three-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to cap off a five-run rally as Fargo-Moorhead stunned Winnipeg by an 11-9 score. The Goldeyes tallied three runs in the top of the inning to take a 9-6 lead only to see the RedHawks make an incredible comeback in the bottom frame with five runs of their own and win in a walk-off.
Fargo-Moorhead pounded out 21 hits as a team with four batters having multi-hit games. Garcia led the way offensively going 5-for-6 with three runs scored and three RBIs. RedHawks 2B Devan Ahart went a perfect 6-for-6 night at the dish with three runs scored and an RBI while CF Brennan Metzger had a three-hit game, including a home run, and two RBIs.
Pitcher Michael Hope tossed two innings of relief for Fargo-Moorhead and picked-up the victory. The righty allowed three earned runs on four hits and fanned a batter. Hope is now a perfect 7-0 on the season with the win.
For Winnipeg, 2B Alex Perez had a 4-for-5 night with a run scored and four RBIs.
Cleburne 22, Texas 2 - Box Score
Cleburne scored 19 runs over their final three trips to the plate, including 10 in the eighth, to roll past Texas by a final of 22-2.
The Railroaders banged out 15 hits in the contest with five batters collecting multi-hit games. Cleburne SS Daniel Robertson had an incredible night at the plate going 3-for-6 with a double, four runs scored and five RBIs. Railroaders DH Angel Rosa had a four-hit game, including two home runs, along with five runs scored and three RBIs while LF Angel Reyes and 3B Chase Simpson combined for five runs and six RBIs.
Cleburne starting pitcher Michael Gunn tossed six solid innings and earned the victory. The University of Arkansas product gave up an unearned run and two walks to go along with seven strikeouts. Gunn is now 5-0 on the year with the win.
