Utah Flash News Release
ANAHEIM, Calif., April 8, 2009 - Morris Almond scored 23 points and Utah shot 65-percent from the floor in the fourth quarter as the Flash defeated the Anaheim Arsenal, 108-93, in NBA Development League action Wednesday at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Playing its fifth game in eight days, Flash improved to 29-18 overall and swept the six-game season series with Anaheim. The Arsenal lost its 10th consecutive game and dipped to 15-33.
Both teams shot poorly in the first half as the Flash took a 51-44 advantage into the break. The Flash led by 10 points with just over three minutes to play in the third quarter, but Anaheim rallied to cut the Utah advantage to 77-74 after three periods.
A Gavin Grant bank shot with 8:51 to play put the Flash up by 10 and effectively put the game away. A pair of three-pointers from Andre Ingram and two slam dunks from Kosta Koufos down the stretch helped Utah run away and hide. The Flash outscored Anaheim 31-19 in the fourth quarter.
"Our guys dug deep and gutted up to go get this one and I'm proud of that," Flash head coach Brad Jones said. "There's no rest for the weary, though. We've played a lot of games in the last week and now we have to get back to Utah County and get ready to play the best team in the league on Friday."
The Flash is host to the Colorado 14ers Friday at the McKay Events Center. The top seed in the upcoming NBADL Playoffs, Colorado is 34-13 and shattered its own league record for points in a game in a 155-129 win over Albuquerque Wednesday.
Prior to the regularly scheduled game, the final 25.2 seconds of the Dec. 26 suspended game between the Flash and 14ers will be resumed with the scored tied at 102-102. The final 25.2 seconds will be played beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the scheduled game to follow.
Andre Ingram came off the Flash bench to make 4-of-7 three point attempts and score 19 points. J.R. Giddens and Koufos both had double-doubles for Utah. Giddens scored 18 and had 10 rebounds, while Koufos contributed 17 points and 12 boards.
Kedric Brown scored 30 and collected 10 rebounds to lead Anaheim. Cedric Bozeman added 20 points, while Andre Patterson and Cameron Bennerman added 10 points each.
