Published on April 8, 2009 under NBA G League (G League) News Release
BOISE, Idaho, April 8, 2009 - The Idaho Stampede will host the sixth-annual NBA Development League Showcase, it was announced today by NBA D-League President Dan Reed. The event, which will be held at Qwest Arena in Boise from January 4-7, returns to Idaho following a successful event in 2008.
"We are very excited to bring the 2010 NBA D-League Showcase back to Boise," said Reed. "The NBA D-League Showcase is a proven platform for many of the best basketball players in the world to impress NBA personnel evaluators from all 30 teams. The fans in Idaho embraced the event two years ago, and I'm looking forward to sharing it with them again."
The 2010 NBA D-League Showcase will feature every NBA D-League team playing two games each in front of scouts and front office personnel from NBA teams.
"Bringing the NBA D-League Showcase back to the fans at Qwest Arena is a special honor," said Stampede President & General Manager Steve Brandes. "We are thrilled to bring this premiere NBA experience back to fans in the Treasure Valley in 2010, and are proud to again host an event that has had such a positive impact on Idaho in the past."
There are more than 70 players in the NBA today with NBA D-League experience, many of whom participated in an NBA D-League Showcase since its inception in 2005. More than 25 NBA D-League players have been called-up or recalled during or after the NBA D-League Showcase; while an even larger number benefited from the exposure afforded them at the NBA D-League Showcase.
Working in conjunction with NBA D-League Cares, participants in the 2010 NBA D-League Showcase will have the opportunity to participate in a full slate of community events that will enable players and coaches to give back to the Boise community.
Conceived prior to the 2004-05 season, the NBA D-League Showcase provides exposure for NBA D-League players and coaches to NBA general managers, player personnel executives and scouts on four consecutive days at one location.
Game times for the 2010 NBA D-League Showcase will be announced at a later date.
