Syracuse Crunch News Release

Syracuse, NY - Allen York and the Syracuse Crunch shut out the Hershey Bears 5-0 tonight at the Giant Center. Crunch netminder York made 39 saves to improve the Crunch to 19-23-4-5 on the season and now lead the Bears 3-2-0-1 in the season series.

The Crunch capitalized on one of three power-play chances and the penalty kill unit was perfect stopping three Hershey man- advantages.

Defenseman Luke Witkowski opened the scoring 3:53 into the opening frame with his first professional goal. Bears goaltender Philipp Graubauer made the initial save but a fluke bounce sent the puck over the goal line. Assists were awarded to Dmitry Korobov and Jon DiSalvatore.

DiSalvatore doubled the Crunch lead halfway through the first period with his seventh goal of the season. DiSalvatore beat Grubauer on a play set up by Crunch captain Mike Angelidis and Dana Tyrell.

Richard Panik scored his first AHL goal of the season to extend the Crunch lead to 3-0 at the 11:39 mark of the middle stanza. Panik's goal came on the power play and was assisted by Vladislav Namestnikov and Artem Sergeev.

Vladislav Namestnikov gave the Crunch a 4-0 lead 7:07 into the final frame, assisted by Charles Landry and Joey Mormina.

Landry's assist is his first point as a member of the Syracuse Crunch. Max Parent scored his first AHL goal 12:54 into the period, assisted by Tanner Richard and Evan Rankin to give the Crunch a five-goal lead.

The Crunch and Bears will rematch Sunday afternoon at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC at 5 p.m.
