Comets Rally in the 3rd, Beat Sens 3-2

February 22, 2014 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, NY - Binghamton's win streak was snapped at four games as the visiting Utica Comets won 3-2 on a pair of third period goals. Frank Corrado blasted home the eventual game-winner 6:31 into the final period to give the Comets their first win in the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena during the inaugural season back in the American Hockey League. Joacim Eriksson stopped 27 of 29 shots faced to earn his 16th victory of the season.

Mike Hoffman scored both B-Sens goals for the night with the initial coming 13:11 into the first period to give the Sens the 1-0 lead. Andrew Hammond backstopped Binghamton for the fifth consecutive game stopping all 10 Comets shots faced in the opening period.

Utica evened the score at one apiece 9:18 into the middle frame when Colin Stuart knocked home a loose puck in front of Hammond for his 12th goal of the year. Just over two minutes later, Hoffman gave Binghamton the lead back on his second marker of the evening off a great feed from Mark Stone. The B-Sens carried the 2-1 advantage into the final intermission.

With Utica working 34 seconds of residual power-play from a Stephane Da Costa tripping penalty at the end of the second period, Nicklas Jensen converted just 19 seconds into the third to tie the game at 2-2. Corrado ripped home the game-winner directly off a Comets faceoff win in the Binghamton zone to give the visitors the come-from-behind win. Hammond finished with 27 saves on 30 shots faced in his first loss since surrendering four goals to Hamilton at the Canadian Tire Centre on February 8.

The Sens hit the road starting Wednesday, February 26, for three games. They begin their trip in Toronto with an 11:00a.m. contest before traveling to St. John's for back-to-back games February 28 and March 1. They return home Saturday, March 8, for a rematch with the Comets to complete the four-game season series. Tickets for that game are available by calling the Binghamton Senators Executive Office at (607) 722-7367 or stopping in between 9:00a.m. and 5:30p.m. Fans can also purchase tickets through the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets during normal business hours by visiting www.ticketmaster.com or at 1-800-745-3000.
