Game Recaps

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 11 vs. TEX (W 5-1):

The second of nine meetings between the two clubs this season took place on Veterans Day. Allen came out firing and didn't let up. Defenseman Jason Seerey and forward Tobias Whelan had goals in the first period before the Brahmas responded with what would be their only goal of the night in the second period. Forward Britt Dougherty scored less than two minutes later. In the third, Whelan added his second goal of the night and forward Liam Huculak had the last goal of the night that he scored on the power play. Goaltender Chris Whitley got retribution for his shootout loss earlier in the season when he earned the win after making 16 saves during the game. The victory marked the first win for the club at home.

SATURDAY, NOV. 14 @ COL (L 3-2):

The Americans took an early lead when Bruce Graham and Bill Loupe=CC=81e found the back of the cage at 17:20 of the first and 12:54 of the second, respectively. Colorado tied the score at two before the second intermission. Then, at the 9:02 mark of the third, the Eagles snuck one past goaltender Chris Whitley to lock up the win.

SUNDAY, NOV. 15 @ COL (W 5-3):

The Americans handed the Colorado Eagles their first regulation loss Sunday in a 5-3 win. In a five-goal first period, the Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead before captain Jarret Lukin tied it up. The Eagles scored two more goals before the period ended to head into the first intermission with a 3-1 lead. Allen came out firing in the second and defenseman Ryan Fairbarn tied it at three in a period that featured three fights from Liam Huculak, Britt Dougherty and Colorado native Brandon Straub. Rookie Tobias Whelan scored the game-winning goal at 15:58 in the third and earned first star of the game honors. In the final minute, Bruce Graham sent the puck into an empty net to make the final score 5-3.
