GAME NOTES: The Mudbugs and RiverKings will finish off a home-and-home series this week with their fourth meeting of the season Friday night at the DCC. WEEKLY NOTES

The Trends

Finally End After the Mudbugs started undefeated on the road and winless at home through their first nine games of this year, both of those odd streaks finally came to an end last weekend for the club. Mississippi put an end to Bossier-Shreveport's four-game road winning streak Friday night with a 4-1 win at the DeSoto Civic Center. The 'Bugs then followed up with their first home victory of the season Saturday night against Rapid City, coming from behind to beat the Rush 3-2 in a shootout. The Mudbugs were the last team in the CHL to win a home game and the second-to-last club to lose away from home (Colorado won its only road contest so far this year).

Banged Up 'Bugs

The Mudbugs played last weekend without six regular forwards who missed both games due to injury and were without the services of defenseman Dale Lupul on Saturday. Tyrel Lucas and Joe Ori are still on the 30-day injured reserve list, while Justin Aikins, Jeff Kyrzakos and Joe Zappala were all placed on the 14-day IR last week. Shawn Limpright is not on IR, but was out for the weekend's action. Lupul left Friday night's game in Mississippi late in the second period and did not dress for Saturday's game at home.

Rookie Reinforcements

Two rookie forwards signed by the Mudbugs last week made their debuts with the club and immediately had an impact last weekend. Matt Cook scored Bossier-Shreveport's only goal Friday night in his first game as a Mudbug, while Adam Krug chipped in an assist during Saturday's victory. Cook, who played NCAA hockey at Union College, was waived by Texas last Monday after playing two games with the Brahmas and signed by the Mudbugs just days later. Krug started the season in training camp with Milwaukee of the AHL before eventually being released. He led the Nation in scoring at Adrian College (NCAA Division III) two years ago and ranked fifth last season.

Muscutt Ties Stewart

Now in his tenth season behind the Mudbugs bench, Head Coach Scott Muscutt coached his 590th career game Saturday Rapid City. That ties him with former Huntsville Channel Cats and Colorado Eagles bench boss Chris Stewart for third on the CHL's All-time games coached list. Only Doug Sauter (918) and Bill McDonald (626) have coached more games in the league. Muscutt is already the third-winningest Coach in CHL/WPHL history (362 victories) and ranks fourth in winning percentage (.662%) with a career record of 362-171-57.

St. Croix Enters the 600 Club

Veteran defenseman Chris St. Croix hit a significant career milestone on Saturday, playing in his 600th professional game. St. Croix, who is in his 11th pro season, has played in the AHL, ECHL and in Germany before coming to the CHL this season. The 6-3, 205-pound blueliner has recorded exactly 250 points (65g, 185a) and 505 penalty minutes in his career. Travis Clayton (783) and Joe Blazek (664) are the only other current Mudbugs with at least 600 games of pro experience.

Loose Pucks

The 'Bugs are 5-1-0 in one-goal games this season... The Mudbugs are approaching 800 regular season games in the history of the franchise, entering this week with 796... Bossier-Shreveport is the only team in the CHL who has not had a shorthanded goal scored for or against in any game so far this season...
