
Alcantara Dazzles in Debut, Travs Win 2-0

North Little Rock, AR - The Arkansas Travelers, behind six two-hit innings from Victor Alcantara, shutout the Midland RockHounds 2-0 on Friday night at Dickey-Stephens Park.
Alcantara (W, 1-0) made his Double-A debut and walked only one with eight strikeouts.
Alcantara was dueled by RHP Raul Alcantara (L, 0-1) who struck out nine over five innings. Raul Alcantara allowed the two Travs runs in the third inning on four total hits with a walk and nine strikeouts.
Arkansas scored its runs on a sacrifice fly from CF Chad Hinshaw and an RBI single by 1B Eric Aguilera.
RHP Austin Wood (H,1) came on for the Travs in the seventh and worked a 1-2-3 frame with two strikeouts.
RHP Geoff Broussard (H,1) preserved the shutout in the eighth and RHP D. J. Johnson (S,1), who was making his Angels organizational debut, notched the save by facing three batters in the ninth.
After striking out a combined 27 times on Thursday night, Midland and Arkansas combined for 24 more K's on Friday (12 for each side).
Aguilera homered twice on Thursday and is 4-for-7 to start his season with three RBIs.
RockHounds CF J.P. Sportman reached on an error to start the game and was the lone Midland player to reach second base all night.
With the win, Arkansas improves to 1-1 on the season. The two teams will play the deciding game of the three-game series on Saturday at Dickey-Stephens Park. RHP Jordan Kipper will toe the rubber for the Travs and will be countered by RHP Daniel Mengden. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
