CLINTON, IA - Raul Alcantara allowed only two runs in six innings to help the Beloit Snappers squeak out a 3-2 victory over the Clinton LumberKings in Midwest League action on Monday night at Ashford University Field.

The win puts Beloit back at .500 with a record of 8-8 and they can take two out of three in this series by winning the finale on Tuesday. Clinton now stands at 7-10.

While the LumberKings did manage eight hits and two walks off Alcantara (2-1), the Snappers' starter navigated out of trouble for much of the evening. He held the opposition to just one hit in eight at-bats with runners in scoring position and stranded seven baserunners. His six inning stint was good enough for Alcantara to grab his second victory.

Beloit opened the scoring in the top of the first, as Christopher Bostick (2-4, 2 runs) tripled and later scored on a Renato Nunez single.

The Snappers lost the lead in the second when a single by Marcus Littlewood (2-4, run) and an error brought Dario Pizzano all the way in from first with the tying run. Littlewood touched home with the lead run on a fielder's choice to make the score 2-1, but that lead was short-lived.

In the third, Bostick and Bruce Maxwell cracked back-to-back doubles, adding up to another run and evening the game at two apiece. The very next inning, Sam Roberts and Ryan Mathews repeated the trick for a third tally, giving Beloit a one-run margin.

Tasked with holding the slim lead late in the game was, first, reliever Chris Lamb, who entered in the seventh. Lamb got five outs, including one K, without allowing the ball out of the infield. Ryan Dull took over from there and saved the game for the Snappers with a scoreless inning and a third that included three strikeouts.

The series' rubber match will be played on Tuesday afternoon, beginning at 12:30pm. Being handed the ball for Beloit is RHP Michael Ynoa (0-0, 1.13 ERA) and his opposition is scheduled to be RHP Stephen Landazuri (1-0, 1.50 ERA).
