April 28, 2024 - Pacific Coast League (PCL)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Albuquerque, NM - With the contest tied at seven in the eighth inning, the Isotopes scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error, then pushed across another on a base hit by Jordan Beck. In the ninth, Matt Carasiti retired the Oklahoma City Baseball Club in order, as Albuquerque won their second consecutive contest by a 9-7 decision.

Topes Scope:

- At the plate this series, Albuquerque slashed .358/.443/.602 with 20 doubles, 11 homers, and 15 stolen bases. They scored at least nine runs in five of the six games.

- This is the third time the Isotopes have been involved in a six-game series in which each club led at some point during every contest (also: Aug. 19-24, 2021 and July 26-31, 2022, both against Las Vegas).

- Today was only the second game in 272 all-time meetings between Albuquerque and Oklahoma that has ended with a 9-7 final score. The Isotopes beat the Redhawks by the same tally in the 2007 season finale on Labor Day at Isotopes Park.

- Seven of Albuquerque's eight victories in 2024 have come by three or fewer runs.

- The Isotopes pitching staff walked only one batter today. It was the first time they have totaled three or fewer free passes in a two-game stretch since last May 11-12 at Las Vegas (also three).

- Oklahoma City tallied eight extra-base hits, their fourth contest with eight or more in this series.

- Julio Carreras swiped second base in the seventh inning, extending Albuquerque's streak with at least one steal to 10 games, tying a team record (also: Sept. 8-19, 2023).

- Drew Romo extended his hitting streak to 15 games, six away from matching his career-long of 21 reached in 2021. Romo is slashing .397/.406/.524 with six doubles, a triple, 11 RBI and eight multi-hit contests during the stretch. This is his first time with three consecutive games with multiple knocks since Aug. 22-25, 2021 with Low-A Fresno.

- Jimmy Herron saw his season-opening 14-game hit streak come to an end. He compiled a .296/.406/.537 slash line with two doubles, a triple, three homers and 12 RBI to start the campaign. However, he did draw a walk, meaning his on-base streak is still intact at 15.

- Sam Hilliard compiled his team-leading 12th multi-hit contest. He was 12-for-28 with five doubles, two homers, six RBI, and two steals during this series. Hilliard remains tied with Jordan Patterson atop the Isotopes all-time home run leaderboard (66).

- Coco Montes was 2-for-4, his fourth multi-hit game out of his last five played and 11th in 2024. He has a .348 batting average in 122 career games at Isotopes Park. Montes also extended his current on-base streak to 17 contests.

- Grant Lavigne launched a go-ahead two-run homer in the fifth inning, his third long ball in the past seven games.

- Ryan Ward connected on two more blasts for Oklahoma City, his second multi-homer performance of the week. It was the third time an opposing player went deep multiple times in a game this season.

On Deck: Albuquerque welcomes in Round Rock (AAA Rangers) to start a six-game series on Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 6:35 pm.
