The Week That Was

Wed., Dec. 14; Albany 2 vs. Syracuse 3 (Overtime)

Syracuse's Nick Bonino scored with 0.4 seconds remaining in overtime to down the Devils, 3-2, at the Times Union Center. The goal came after the Devils had fought back from a 1-0 deficit with the help of third period goals by Vladimir Zharkov and Steve Zalewski. The Crunch answered moments later, setting the stage for overtime. Zharkov finished the game with a goal and an assist and goaltender Jeff Frazee made a season-high 35 saves.

Fri., Dec. 16; Albany 1 vs. Worcester 5

After scoring 1:16 into the game, the Devils surrendered five unanswered goals and lost, 5-1, to the Sharks at the Times Union Center. Steve Zalewski scored with assists from Joe Whitney and Joe Sova. Worcester received a pair of goals each from Jack Combs and Tommy Wingels. Marek Viedensky had the other tally for the Sharks. Keith Kinkaid made 33 saves.

Sat., Dec. 17; Albany 1 vs. Springfield 2 (Shootout)

The Falcons needed 11 shootout rounds to finally beat Jeff Frazee and the Devils at the Times Union Center. The marathon game ended with Springfield winning 2-1. Frazee made 25 saves and added seven more in the shootout. Darzy Zajac scored a power-play goal for the Devils and Springfield's Cam Atkinson scored the other regulation goal. Brett Lebda netted the game-winner in the 11th round of the shootout.

Notables

- Peter Harrold is the only Devils defenseman to appear in all 28 games. He has posted nine points with a goal and eight assists.

- Steve Zalewski is first on the team with 17 points and leads the Devils with eight goals. He had produced points in eight of the last 13 games (5g-6a). Since being acquired on Feb. 9, 2011 in a trade, Zalewski has accumulated 40 points (19g-21a) in 59 games for Albany.

- Darcy Zajac netted his sixth goal of the season and his first career AHL power-play goal when he sent a backhander past Springfield's Manny Legace Saturday. Zajac is in his second full professional season and has amassed 17 points with 10 goals and seven assists in 69 games.

- AHL alum and current New Jersey Devil Adam Henrique is second in the NHL among rookies with 25 points with eight goals and 17 assists. Additionally, he is a plus-7 with two shorthanded goals and three game-winning tallies in 29 games. Henrique, who produced 25 goals and 25 assists for the AHL Devils in 2010-11, appeared in three AHL games this season.

- In the last eight games, Albany has outshot its opponents 267-218 (33.4-27.3). The Devils rank 15th in the league, averaging 30.25 shots per game. On the other side, the team is ninth, allowing just 28.61 shots against per game.
