Alaska Aces News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - Bryan Miller factored in all three goals and Chris Holt stopped 25 shots as the Alaska Aces defeated the Ontario Reign, 3-1, before 3,268 Monday Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Alaska avoided losing its third in a row while snapping Ontario's three-game winning streak. Coupled with Fresno's loss in Las Vegas, the Aces once again enjoy sole possession of first place not only in the West Division but the National Conference with a 13-5-1 overall record.

Alaska fell behind 1-0 at 6:09 of the opening period when Shawn Germain's shot from the right point sailed past a screened Holt. After being out-shot 11-9 in the first 20 minutes, the Aces dominated the middle frame, registering 13 of the period's 16 shots on goal and taking the lead on power play goals by Jordan Foreman at 9:21 and Miller with 3:15 left in the period. Foreman's goal came on a tip-in of a Miller drive, while the latter scored when his shot banked off an Ontario defenseman's skate.

Alaska continued its power play barrage in the third period, as Colin Hemingway fed Lance Galbraith for a tap-in at 6:04 (Miller got the second assist). The Reign's last gasp came when Todd Jackson was awarded a penalty shot with 1:54 remaining, but Holt's glove save extinguished those fleeting hopes. The Aces went 5-for-12 against Ontario on the power play in their two games (including a 3-2 loss Sunday) while holding the Reign scoreless in 12 opportunities with the man advantage.

Alaska now looks forward to a six-game homestand at Sullivan Arena, beginning with Wednesday's series opener against Bakersfield (6-9-3), leading into Military Appreciation Weekend on Friday and Saturday, December 5-6. All three games will start at 7:15 p.m. and be broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM, with Peanut Farm Pre-Game Show coverage getting underway at 7:00. The Aces went 6-0 against the Condors last season and have won their last five games at home this year.
