Harrisburg Senators News Release
Sunday afternoon in Akron, the Aeros finished off a three-game game sweep of the Senators with an 8-2 win. Akron improved to a league best 22-5 while the Senators dropped to 6-21 on the season.
Zack Segovia started for the Senators in a spot start, necessitated by the rain-outs earlier this week and the doubleheader on Thursday. He pitched three innings and took the loss, allowing three earned runs on five hits before handing the ball to Josh Wilkie. Wilkie pitched 3.2 innings, his longest outing of the season, allowing just a single run. Dave Williams pitched the final 1.1 innings for the Sens.
Harrisburg managed just four hits, a double by Edgardo Baez, and singles by Marvin Lowrance, Ofilio Castro and Michael Daniel. Daniel's single came in the seventh inning with two outs to plate Lowrance. The Sens had a couple of late chances in the game but failed to capitalize on their chances. Lowrance made the defensive play of the game when he robbed Carlos Santana of extra bases in the eighth inning with a diving catch in deep left center field.
The Senators now return home for three games before heading back out on the road. They'll start a three-game series with the Altoona Curve on Monday night at 7:00pm with LH Ross Detwiler on the mound for the Sens.
