Aerodynamics...

Worth the Wait?...The Aeros suffered their worst loss of the season Sunday afternoon, a 14-1 defeat at Reading after waiting out a 2:04 rain delay prior to the first pitch. Waiting for the weather to cooperate has been a running theme for the Aeros over the past eight days, during which Akron has had four games rained out and a scheduled off-day. And with the rotation thrown out of whack with all the postponements, it may be rubbing off on the starting pitchers (who are notorious for habitually sticking to the same routine). Frank Herrmann, pitching for the first time in 10 days yesterday afternoon, was hit hard in his 2.1 innings of work, allowing nine runs on 12 hits and striking out one. He was tagged for one run in the first inning, five in the second, and left the game in third after allowing three more. Akron's only run came in the top of the fourth when SS Josh Rodriguez led off with a triple and 3B Wes Hodges drove him in with a sacrifice fly for his team-leading 34th RBI. Hodges is third in the Eastern League in that category.

Hot at the Dish...Infielder Brandon Pinckney carries a hot stick into tonight's contest. The native of Elk Grove, CA is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak, during which he is hitting .375 (12-32) with three multi-hit games to raise his average from .095 to .264 on the season. He has struck out just three times during the streak, and is tied with Michael Aubrey, Wes Hodges, and Nathan Panther for the longest hitting streak for an Aero this season.

Hot on the Hill...Akron LHP David Huff was named the Bank of America Eastern League Pitcher of the Week today (for the week ending May 18th). He made one start last week, a seven-inning complete game shutout at Altoona Thursday morning in the first game of a doubleheader. He surrendered just three hits and one walk, struck out a pair, and allowed just one runner to get as far as second base. Huff leads the Eastern League with a 2.14 ERA and a 0.86 WHIP, and is seventh in strikeouts with 43. The former UCLA star is 3-1 on the season and the Aeros are 4-4 in his eight appearances (seven starts).

Curving Altoona...The Aeros have already won five of the first nine games against Altoona this season and the pitching has been a big reason why, as Akron hurlers have a 2.43 ERA and are holding the Curve to a .201 batting average in the first nine games of the season series. Tonight's starter Ryan Edell blanked Altoona on four hits over eight innings April 23rd, and Akron's four probable starters in this series are a combined 3-1 with a 1.30 ERA in 41.2 innings against Altoona in six starts.

Did You Know...Michael Aubrey, who began the year as Akron's Opening Day first baseman and was promoted to Class AAA Buffalo on May 2nd, made his major league debut with the Indians Saturday in Cincinnati. In his first big-league start Sunday, Aubrey went 1-for-4 with a home run for his first major league hit.
