New Britain Rock Cats News Release
New Britain, CT - Jay Rainville dominated through seven innings and Drew Butera provided the offense as the Rock Cats downed Harrisburg, 5-1 on Monday night.
Rainville (3-5, 7.53) limited the Senators to three hits and one unearned run in his longest outing of the season. He struck out a season-high eight and walked none.
Rainville retired the first seven batters he faced before Ofilio Castro reached base on a throwing error by shortstop Trevor Plouffe. Castro came around to score on a single by Mike Daniel to put the Senators on the board, 1-0.
Former Rock Cat Tristan Crawford cruised through the first four innings. The Rock Cats finally got on the board in the fifth when Drew Butera scored on Dustin Martin's ground out that tied the game, 1-1. In the sixth, the âCats broke out the bats. David Winfree started things off with a one-out double and Matt Moses followed with a single. Plouffe then delivered a double to right field to score Winfree and put the Rock Cats ahead, 2-1. Crawford intentionally walked Felix Molina to load the bases before Butera drove a bases clearing double to center field.
Crawford (1-1, 4.81) finished with five runs on eight hits and three walks through 5 1/3 innings.
Plouffe finished with a game-high three hits. Luke Hughes managed the first hit off his former teammate and fellow Australian - a triple to right field in the first inning.
