Texas AirHogs News Release

LINCOLN, Nebraska - The AirHogs rallied but ultimately fell for the first time in Lincoln Wednesday. The Saltdogs used a bases-loaded walk in the 8th to secure a 5-4 win.

Ethan Carnes got the ball to start for the AirHogs. After a perfect 1st, he surrendered 4 runs on 4 hits in the 2nd. Carnes would bear down after the tough 2nd though and pitched through the 7th without allowing another man into scoring position.

The bats got going for the AirHogs in the top of the 3rd. Cody Lenahan reached with a leadoff single and went 1st to 3rd on an errant pickoff attempt by Lincoln starter Randy Ziegler. He would come in on error by Saltdog 3B Christian Ibarra. Michael Hur, who reached on that error, stole 2nd and was driven in by Burt Reynolds, who loosed a 2-out double to left center to make it 4-2. It was the 8th RBI of the season for Reynolds.

The AirHogs got 2 more on the board in the 5th. 2B Brian Bistagne led off with a double and would score later in the frame on a sac fly by Sanchez. Hur reached with a base hit of his own and scored for a second time on a 2-out double, this time by 3B Austin Gallagher. It was Gallagher's 4th RBI of the series.

In the 8th, AirHog relief man David Wayne Russo loaded the bases and walked Saltdog C Luis Alen to score Chase Harris, making it 5-4 in the home squad's favor. He would limit the damage to just 1 run, but former Detroit Tiger Evan Reed pitched a perfect top of the 9th, sewing up his 3rd save of 2016. Nigel Nootbaar, who pitched a scoreless 8th, got his 1st win, while Russo suffered his 1st loss of the season.

The AirHogs (6-7) will have their 2nd chance to win the series tomorrow. The team is expected to start RHP Palmer Betts. The Saltdogs are expected to start RHP Lindsey Caughil.

A live radio broadcast of the game will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.
