. With one more win, the Aeros will secure a sixth-straight season of having a winning percentage of .500. Akron has not had a losing record since 2004 when they finished 63-78.

Aerodynamics.

. The replay. Akron struck first in their opening at-bat for the third-straight game. Center fielder Jordan Henry led off with a single through the hole at shortstop. Henry eventually stole second, advanced to second on a ground out, and scored on a single up the middle by third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall. Trenton answered as Justin Christian led off with a home run to left field. The Thunder would take a 2-1 lead in the second inning when Marcos Vechionacci scored on a fielding error by first baseman Miguel Perez. Their lead would increase to 3-1 after Christian hit his second homer of the game in the fifth inning. The Aeros attempted to come back in the sixth as designated hitter Beau Mills singled to right-center field to score Chisenhall. Akron could not get any closer as they left two on base to end the frame. The Thunder added an insurance run in the eighth as Daniel Brewer singled in Christian for the final 4-2 count.

. Battery and Bryson. Right-handed starter Rob Bryson (1-1) took the loss despite allowing only two runs (one earned) on one hit with two strikeouts. It was the Newark, Del. native's second start this year with the Aeros and longest outing this season. Andrew Brackman (4-7) earned the win after he allowed two runs on five hits in six innings of work.

. Back and forth. Akron is once again 3.5 games back of the Senators for the wild card and has an elimination number of three with five games remaining in the regular season. Bowie was also a winner Wednesday and is three games ahead of the Aeros. If Akron loses three games, the wild card leader wins three games, or any mixture of Akron losing and the wild card leader winning equal to three, the Aeros will be eliminated.

. Half-time. The half game of the 3.5 games separating the Aeros and Harrisburg will be made up on Friday when the Senators play a doubleheader against the Binghamton Mets. The first game will be a continuation of a suspended game from August 12.

. Consolation prize. Despite being able to tie, at best, this current series with Trenton, the Aeros have won the season series over the Thunder with their win on Tuesday night.

. King of the hill. Left-handed pitcher Matt Packer won this week's Akron Aeros Player of the Week award after he earned his first win with the Aeros in Saturday's 9-0 triumph over Erie. The Germantown, Tenn. native celebrated his 23rd birthday in a big way as he gave up no runs on six hits and struck out eight batters over six innings of work. It was the most strikeouts Packer has had in an appearance since sitting down nine batters on July 6 in a game against the Lansing Lugnuts as a member of the Lake County Captains. This week, the separate Eastern League Player-Pitcher of the Week Awards went to Portland's Ryan Lavarnway and Reading's Michael Cisco, respectively.
