Aeros Stat of the Day:

. The Akron Aeros led the 12-team Eastern League with an 18-9 record, .290 batting average and 2.59 ERA in the month of July, but still have two more suspended games left to finish.

Aerodynamics.

. Saturday Setback. The Reading Phillies scored in each of the final three innings Saturday to complete a comeback in their 8-6 victory in 10 innings over the Aeros at Canal Park. Akron led 2-0 after the first inning thanks to an RBI double by designated hitter Jason Kipnis and a sacrifice fly by first baseman Beau Mills. Reading cut the deficit to a run in the second and the two teams then exchanged scores in the third, fifth and seventh innings. The hosts led 6-4 entering the eighth but the Phillies responded with two doubles that frame, a game-tying wild pitch in the ninth and a rally in the 10th to take the lead. Reading reliever Justin De Fratus (1-0) earned the win while closer Omar Aguilar (2-4) took the loss and Sergio Escalona recorded his 10th save.

. Bounce-Back Barnes. Left-hander Scott Barnes made his team-leading 20th start Saturday and recorded his fifth quality start in six outings. The 22-year-old native of Chicopee, MA allowed three runs on six hits in six innings pitched, striking out four batters with two walks. He has been much more consistent recently, holding a 4-3 record with a 3.78 ERA in 11 starts since June, limiting opponents to a .238 batting average along with 52 strikeouts against only 19 walks in 64.1 innings pitched.

. Air Jordan. Nobody has been better this week for Akron than leadoff center fielder Jordan Henry. The speedy product of the University of Mississippi had his first career four-hit performance in Double-A Saturday night along with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. Henry now has a seven-game hitting streak and in six games this home stand, is batting .571 (10-for-17) with six walks and seven runs scored. He turned 22 years old on the day of his promotion from Class A Kinston last month.

. Three-Headed Monster. Following Henry in the lineup, both Kipnis and third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall have been hot this week as well. Kipnis had three hits Saturday to extend his hitting streak to six games as well while Chisenhall recorded his 11th home run of the season. Combined, the top three hitters for the Aeros are batting .407 (24-for-59) this home stand.

. Prevent Defense. Akron tied a season-high Saturday with four errors in a game to increase their total to 57 in their last 49 games and 104 this year, fourth most in the Eastern League. Shortstop Carlos Rivero committed two errors in the loss and he now has 24 on the year, nearly doubling his season total of 14 from 2009 when he set a franchise-record with a .972 fielding percentage.

. Spectacular Sunday. Today's game marks the end of a four-game series against the Reading Phillies and a weeklong home stand at Canal Park. The Aeros hope to improve to 7-3-3 in their past 13 series with a win and after an off day Monday, the team travels to Blair County Ballpark Tuesday for the start of a crucial four-game set against the first-place Altoona Curve.
