Harrisburg Senators News Release

Devin Ivany blasted a solo home run with two outs in the eleventh inning to propel the Harrisburg Senators past the Portland Sea Dogs on Sunday afternoon, completing a four-game home sweep. The Senators (56-53) came back from four runs down in the seventh inning to win, and are now three games over .500 for the first time this season.

The game featured twenty-three runs and twenty-nine hits, along with five errors. The slugfest took four hours and one minute, and saw reliever Rafael Martin walk away with his fourth victory. Martin (4-2) gave up no hits and just one walk in his three innings of work. Portland's Ryne Lawson (5-5) gave up Ivany's home run, and took the loss. Aaron Thompson, Hassan Pena and Jack Spradlin all pitched in the game for the Senators.

The Sea Dogs (52-56) scored two runs in the first inning, and took a first-inning lead for the third time in the four-game series. The Senators answered back with five in the third, however, off of Portland starter Alex Wilson. The five runs were highlighted by a grand slam by Edgardo Baez; it was the third grand slam for the Senators this season. Chris Marrero also drove in a run with an RBI double in the inning, and the Senators led 5-2 after three.

Portland answered right back with six in the fourth to take an 8-5 advantage, before the Senators responded with two in the bottom of the inning. Marvin Lowrance doubled in Josh Johnson for the first run, and Marrero hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Lowrance and make it 8-7. Portland scored two more in the sixth, and then one in the seventh to take an 11-7 lead, but would not score again.

The Senators came back in the bottom of the seventh inning with three runs, to cut the deficit to one. Adam Fox drove in Marrero with a single, and later scored on a wild pitch by Portland's Bryce Cox. The other run came on a groundout by Baez, which brought home Tim Pahuta. The Senators loaded the bases with just one out in the inning, trailing by just one, but All-Star reliever Jason Rice retired the final two batters of the inning to strand three. The last out was a pop-up by Lowrance down the left-field line, on which Sea Dog third baseman Ryan Khoury made an outstanding diving catch to temporarily preserve the Portland lead.

That lead would not last long, as Marrero led off the eighth with a solo home run to tie the game at 11. It was his fourteenth of the season, and gave him two hits on the day. The Senators combined for thirteen hits as a team, getting two each from Marrero, Johnson, Lowrance, Pahuta, Fox, and Ivany. Baez' grand slam was his only hit. The Sea Dogs had sixteen hits in the contest, including four apiece from Yamaico Navarro and Luis Exposito.

The Senators have an off-day on Monday, and then take to the road to try to extend their four-game win streak. They begin a three-game weekday series at Binghamton on Tuesday night. Tuesday's game is a 6:35 PM start, and will be the first meeting of the season between the B-Mets and the Senators. Fans can hear all the action by tuning in to 1460 AM The Ticket or logging on to www.senatorsbaseball.com, starting with the pregame show at 6:20.
