Aeros Assign McGrane to IceGators

Lafayette, LA – The American Hockey League's Houston Aeros have assigned forward Ed McGrane to the ECHL's Louisiana IceGators, the teams announced Tuesday. McGrane is expected to be available for Friday's game against Texas, which kicks off a three-in-three set this weekend.

McGrane, a rookie, had an assist in his first game with the Aeros, last Wednesday in Utah. He played in two contests with Houston after being called up from CHL Corpus Christi on December 1. McGrane had an eye-popping 14 goals and 21 points in just 19 games with Corpus Christi. The 25-year-old, 5-foot-11, 185-pound McGrane played collegiately at UMass-Lowell.

McGrane will join the team for Thursday morning practice at the Cajundome and is expected to be in the lineup Friday night when the IceGators host Texas. During his four years at UMass-Lowell, McGrane tallied 138 pts (70g,68a) in 144 games. McGrane is the second player to be sent to Louisiana from Houston this week, joining two-time ECHL All-Star defenseman Kevin Mitchell on the IceGators squad.

The IceGators will play two home games this weekend, Educator's Appreciation Night Friday December 12 vs. the Texas Wildcatters at 7:05pm and Fire, Police and EMT Appreciation Day Sunday Dec 14 vs. the Mississippi Sea Wolves at 4:05pm.
