Titans Make Defensive Move

TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans of the ECHL announced today that they have acquired defenseman Jay Leach from the Long Beach Ice Dogs in exchange for forward Marty Johnston and defenseman Chris Barr.
"Jay is going to be a big, steady presence on our blueline, while also providing a veteran presence and leadership for the team." said Bill Armstrong, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for the Trenton Titans.
Leach - 6'4" and 220 lbs - had been on loan to the Providence Bruins of the AHL, where he appeared in two games and recorded 2 PIM. The third-year pro was drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 5th round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. Leach, a native of Cranston, RI, played for four years at Providence College with current Titans Devin Rask and Peter Fregoe.
Marty Johnston, signed as a free agent on October 8, 2003, had notched 12 points (3g, 9a) in 19 games for the Titans Barr, acquired from the Florence Pride on November 4, 2003, had a goal and an assist over 9 games with Trenton.
The Trenton Titans are a member of the ECHL - America's Premier "AA" Hockey League. The Titans take on the Greensboro Generals on Friday, December 12 at 7:30pm. Trenton continues its weekend road trip with a matchup versus the Reading Royals on Saturday, December 13 at 7:05pm.
