Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI--Scott Darling continued his stellar play for the Admirals, stopping 29 of 30 shots, and the Ads picked up goals from four different players as they topped the Grand Rapids Griffins 4-1 on Thursday night.

The game pushed Darling's winning streak to three games and he has stopped 97 of 99 shots in those contests. The win also snapped a three-game losing streak to the Griffins.

After a scoreless first period, the two teams combined for four goals in the second with the Admirals scoring three of them. Taylor Beck put the Ads up 1-0 just 44 seconds into the middle frame. He was stationed at the right post and deflected the shot of defenseman Joe Piskula by Griffins netminder Tom McCollum.

Colston Sissons made it 2-0 Milwaukee when he posted his team leading 11th goal of the season at the 6:41 mark. Joonas Jarvinen and Bryan Rodney assisted on the goal.

Just after Austin Watson was denied by McCollom on a breakaway, Miikka Salomaki got his chance when he got behind the Grand Rapids defense and was sprung on a pass from Kevin Henderson. Salomaki roofed a backhand over the glove of McCollum and the Admirals led 3-0.

The Griffins got picked up their lone goal of the night with just 3:25 remaining in the period on a laser beam slapper from Teemu Pulkkinen. The goal was just the second allowed in four home games this month by the Ads.

Kevin Henderson got that goal back for the Admirals less than two minutes into the third period. Austin Watson carried the puck into the high slot, fired a shot wide of the Grand Rapids net and the puck rebounded off the boards and out to the right of McCollum where Henderson was the first one to it. He ripped a slapper for his third of the year at 1:56.

The Admirals return to action Friday night when they host the Charlotte Checkers at 7:00 pm at the BMO harris Bradley Center. Prior to the game Mequon Homstead and Marquette High School will face off in the finals of the Admirals Cup, presented by Bradley Corporation.
