Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Binghamton made it three victories in a row tonight with a 4-1 win over the visiting Hershey Bears. The B-Sens managed to overcome a 1-0 deficit following twenty minutes of play to improve to 17-9-0-3 and move into a tie for first place in the East Division. Cole Schneider finished a stellar night with two goals and two assists including an insurance goal with one second left in regulation.
Hershey struck 16:12 into the opening period on a power-play goal from Nicolas Deschamps to give the Bears its only lead of the contest. The visitors carried the slim 1-0 lead into the first intermission with goaltender David Leggio stopping all seven Binghamton shots.
Binghamton's power play unit converted on its first opportunity of the evening 6:24 into the second period on Stephane Da Costa's first goal of the game to tie things up 1-1. Da Costa corralled a rebound in front of Leggio off of Schneider's shot to give the Sens their first goal of the night. With less than two minutes to go in the period, the B-Sens grabbed their first lead with Schneider putting home another rebound from Leggio making it 2-1 going into the final period.
The third period was all Binghamton with Nathan Lawson grabbing 10 of his 32 saves in the final 20 minutes of play. Da Costa added his second marker of the night, extending the Sens lead to 3-1 9:35 into the period. Da Costa took a nice feed from O'Brien and worked through Hershey's defense before pushing the puck past Leggio for his ninth goal of the season. Schneider's empty net goal rounded out the scoring moving the final to 4-1.
Leggio made 26 saves for Hershey in the defeat while Lawson improved to 10-4-0 for the year. Schneider's four point night extended his scoring streak to six games while O'Brien recorded two helpers for his second two-point night of the campaign.
Binghamton travels to Utica tomorrow night to faceoff against the Comets in a 7:00p.m. matchup before returning home on New Years Eve for a 6:05p.m. tilt versus the Norfolk Admirals.
