Admirals Hope to Meet Goals on Road Trip

NORFOLK, VA - After mustering just one goal in two home games last week, the Admirals hope to jump-start their offense during a three-game road trip this week.

On Friday night at Scope, the Admirals surrendered four third-period goals as they fell to the Hershey Bears 5-1. On Saturday night at Scope, Karri Ramo stopped 26 of 27 shots, but the Admirals fell to the Philadelphia Phantoms 1-0.

The Admirals now embark on a three-game road trip with stops in Bridgeport on Wednesday, Binghamton on Friday and Hershey on Saturday. Friday night's game is another B2 Night at Baxter's (see below for details).

EAST DIVISION STANDINGS

Norfolk (10-15-1-2, 23 points) is currently tied for sixth place in the East Division. The Philadelphia Phantoms (19-8-1-0, 29 points) lead the division. The Albany River Rats (16-12-0-2, 34 points) sit in second place. The Hershey Bears (14-10-0-2) and Binghamton Senators (13-11-3-1) are tied for third with 30 points apiece. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (14-12-0-1, 29 points) are in fifth place. The Admirals and Bridgeport Sound Tigers (11-14-1-0) are tied for sixth with 23 points.

ADMIRALS RBK/AHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE

Norfolk goaltender Karri Ramo was one of the few bright spots for the Admirals as they dropped two home contests against East Division rivals last week. Ramo made 22 saves on 25 shots - including several impressive stops - on Friday night versus, Hershey but the Bears defeated Norfolk 5-1. On Saturday night versus Philadelphia, Ramo allowed only one goal and made 26 stops in a 1-0 loss. In his last four games, Ramo is 2-2-0 with a 2.14 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage.

ADMIRALS' LOG

- On Saturday, the Admirals were shut out at home for the first time in more than two years. Scott Munroe made 25 saves as the Phantoms defeated Norfolk 1-0. The last time the Admirals were shut out at home was also in a 1-0 loss to Philadelphia on October 22, 2005, when Jamie Storr made 44 saves and R.J. Umberger scored the game's only goal.

- Darroll Powe's shorthanded goal on Saturday was the first shorthanded goal allowed by the Admirals since 11/21/07 - a span of nine games without allowing a shorthanded goal.

- The Admirals are tied with the Rochester Americans for the most shorthanded goals allowed in the AHL this season with nine.

- Norfolk is 2-10-0-1 when allowing the first goal and is 8-5-1-1 when scoring the first goal this season.

- Norfolk (0-8-0-0) and the Manchester Monarchs (0-5-1-1) are the only AHL teams this season without a win when trailing after one period.

- Karl Stewart (4-3-7) had a five-game point streak end on Saturday

Adam Henrich (5-6-11) had a five-game point streak end on Friday

Norm Milley (2-4-6) had a five-game point streak end on Friday
