Milwaukee, WI - The Milwaukee Admirals managed just 14 shots and one goal as the fell to the Providence Bruins 3-1 Friday night at the Bradley Center.

The first period was dominated by hard defensive play and key saves at both ends of the ice. Netminders Pekka Rinne and Tuukka Rask made a combined 15 saves throughout the first and tight defensive units made penetrating the zones difficult for both teams. It wasn't until the back end of the period that the scoreless tie was broken by the Bruins.

Milwaukee's Matt Ellison was sent to the box at 12:45 for hooking, giving Providence the man-advantage. With just nine seconds left in the penalty, Providence forward defenseman Matt Hunwick got around the Milwaukee defense and put a shot on net. Rinne made the initial save, but Aaron Slattengren jumped on the loose puck to put the Bruins up 1-0.

The Bruins came out strong for the second and notched their second goal of the night only 5:33 into the period on Nate Thompson's 13th goal of the season. Milwaukee's offensive lines had a tough go of it for the duration of the period and only made six shots on goal. However, the Admirals had a golden opportunity to get back into the game when rich Peverley was awarded a penalty shot with just over 1:30 to play in the period, but he was unable to get his backhander over Rask's outstretched leg and thus Milwaukee went into the locker room down 2-0 after two.

Providence entered the last period as strongly as they did the second. After only 4:33, center Wacey Rabbit potted the Bruins third goal of the night. Just three minutes after Rabbit's goal Milwaukee found themselves on a power play and beat Rask for the first time in the contest. Alexander Sulzer picked up a pass from Peverley and his wrist shot from the left face off circle put the Admirals on the board at the 7:31 mark.

Rask and the Bruins defense put the clamps on from there and Milwaukee was unable to muster many opportunities the rest of the way.

The Admirals are on the road tomorrow night traveling to Chicago to take on the Wolves at 7:00 pm. They return to the Bradley Center next Thursday night March 6th to face the Grand Rapids Griffins.
