Admirals Crunched in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch (18-15-3-2) took a six-goal lead after two periods and held on to defeat the Norfolk Admirals (24-14-1-2), 6-3, on Friday night at the Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter. The Admirals will conclude their three-game road trip tomorrow evening against the Connecticut Whale.

Norfolk scored three goals in the third period as captain Mike Angelidis scored twice and Richard Panik bested Crunch goaltender Marco Cousineau once. Admirals goaltender Jaroslav Janus stopped 17 of 23 shots through two periods before being replaced by Dustin Tokarski, who stopped all three shots he faced in the third period.

Patrick Maroon recorded a hat trick for Syracuse, Maxime Macenauer scored twice and Dan Sexton rounded out scoring for the Crunch as the home team scored three times each in the first and second periods. Cousineau stopped 30 of 33 shots for the win.

Norfolk was 0-for-5 on the power play while Syracuse was 1-for-6.

The road trip concludes for the Admirals tomorrow night in Hartford, Connecticut, as they face off against the Connecticut Whale at 7:00 p.m. Tune in to 102.1-FM, 1490-AM, 1021TheGame.com or AHLLive.com for all the action.

Norfolk surrendered hat tricks in back-to-back games for the first time in AHL Admirals history, as Stephane Veilleux recorded three goals on Wednesday night for Albany and Patrick Maroon scored thrice tonight in Syracuse ...
