Norfolk Admirals News Release

NORFOLK - Corey Crawford made 22 saves as the Admirals swept a weekend pair of games against their East Division Rivals the Philadelphia Phantoms with a 4-0 victory Saturday night.

Norfolk continued its trend of scoring goals in bunches as they tallied three goals in a 1:01 span midway through the first period. Dustin Byfuglien opened scoring with a power play wrist shot from the point that made its way through a screen and into the back of the net at 10:30. Steve Munn began the second scoring play with a cross-ice pass from the left point to the right faceoff circle. Troy Brouwer received the pass and sent a wrist shot top shelf stick side at 11:15. Just 16 seconds later, Brouwer set up Adam Berti's first professional goal by faking a shot from the right circle to freeze goaltender Scott Munroe. Brouwer then dished the puck to Berti at the opposite circle who fired the puck into a yawning cage at 11:31. Norfolk took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

The second period saw the Admirals hold the Phantoms without a shot until under four minutes to go in the period. Norfolk outshot Philadelphia 11-3, but neither team dented the twine in the second stanza.

Captain Craig MacDonald capped scoring on the night with his first goal as a Norfolk Admiral. While shorthanded, MacDonald and Carl Corazzini broke in on Munroe on a two-on one break. They executed a give-and-go where each passed the puck to the other before MacDonald re-directed Corazzini's offering past Munroe from the top of the crease at 7:37. Crawford stopped all eleven shots he saw in the final frame as the Admirals shut out the Phantoms 4-0.

Corey Crawford picked up his second career shutout victory and had 22 saves on the night. Rejean Beauchemin was saddled with the loss despite allowing just one goal on four shots before leaving with an apparent injury in the first period. Scott Munroe did not receive a decision and made 25 saves on 28 shots.

Norfolk was 1-4 on the power play while Philadelphia was 0-6.
