The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights capped off Home Opening Weekend the same way they began it...with a win. The Knights beat the San Antonio Rampage 4-3 on Saturday night to run their winning streak to five games.

The Knights opened the scoring early in the first period when Brandon Prust collected his first goal of the season just 56 seconds into the game. Richie Regehr took a booming shot from the blueline. It hit goalie Phil Sauve in the shoulder and dropped behind him. Prust raced in and poked the puck into an empty net.

Their lead ballooned to 2-0 when Dustin Boyd took a drop pass from Tomi Maki and beat Sauve with a wrist shot for his third goal of the season.

The second period began much the same with another early Knights goal. Carsen Germyn earned his second goal in as many games when he finished a two-on-one rush with Boyd at 1:17.

The Rampage struck back at 6:49 during a powerplay. Donald MacLean won a face-off back to defensemen Bryan Helmer. He hammered a shot just inside the near post to make it 3-1. The goal ended Knights' goalie Curtis McElhinney's shutout string at 93:28.

The Knight's power play answered back later in the period when Boyd found Dave Moss alone in front of Sauve. He slipped the puck home for his team-leading fourth goal of the year. Andrei Taratukhin earned the other assist.

San Antonio responded immediately with a powerplay goal from Pascal Rheaume off the assists from Randall Gelech and Daniel Winnik to pull the Rampage within 4-2 going into the third period.

The Knights kept San Antonio pinned into its own end for most of the third but in the late going, the Rampage pulled Sauve for an extra attacker and got a break when Brett Palin was whistled for cross checking. With a six on four advantage, Helmer got his second of the night to make it 4-3.

Time would run out before the Rampage could get the equalizer. McElhinney would finish with 17 saves in earning his third straight win.

The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights are now 5-0-1-0.

Three Stars: 1. Dustin Boyd (OMA)-1 goal, 2 assists; 2. Carsen Germyn (OMA)-1 goal, 1 assist; 3. Curtis McElhinney (OMA)-17 saves
