December 18, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI-Sunday afternoon's Admirals game had all of the makings of a disaster. Playing their third game in less than 48 hours, the Admirals found themselves in a 2-0 hole before many of the fans even found their seats. Claude Noel's troops would not quit, however, and they battled their way back to take a 5-4 decision over the Cleveland Barons.
The Barons grabbed a 1-0 lead just 24 seconds into the game when the puck took a funny bounce off the boards and went right to Josh Prudden who beat Admiral goalie Pekka Rinne. The score was 2-0 less than two minutes later after Patrick Rissmiller notched a power play goal on assists from Ryane Clowe and Josh Hennessy.
Jason Notermann got the Ads on the board at the 4:02 mark of the first and Shea Weber tied the score with his sixth goal of the season at 5:54. When defenseman Kevin Klein scored on a shot from the left point with under two minutes left in the first it looked like the Ads were in control, but Cleveland wouldn't go away and they tied the score at three at 12:35 of the second.
Milwaukee would take 4-3 lead when Libor Pivko and Timofei Shishkanov assisted on Darren Haydar's 13 tally of the season, but the Barons responded again just 35 seconds later when Matt Carkner found the back of the net. Greg Classen was finally able to deliver the knock-out blow to the Barons when he recorded a power-play marker at the 6:08 mark of the third.
Pivko had three assists, while Weber and Klein each chipped in a goal and an assist to pace the Milwaukee offense. Despite allowing four goals, Rinne picked up the win to run his record to 11-6-1 on the season.
The Admirals are back in action at 7 pm on Wednesday when the Grand Rapids Griffins make their second visit of the year to the Bradley Center.
