Barons Fall to Milwaukee, 5-4

MILWAUKEE, WI - Patrick Rissmiller's three-point night was not enough for the Barons as they fell on the road at Milwaukee 5-4. The Admirals scored four power play goals in the game, including the game-winner with a third period two-man advantage.

A lightning fast start for the Barons wasn't enough in the opening period as Milwaukee scored three unanswered goals to lead 3-2 after twenty minutes of action. Josh Prudden scored the fastest goal of any period this season for the Barons with his sixth of the year just 24-seconds into the period. The Barons extended the lead with a power play strike from Patrick Rissmiller on their only man-advantage opportunity of the stanza. Milwaukee's Head Coach Claude Noel immediately called a time out and his team responded with three consecutive goals to close out the scoring. Jason Noterman slipped in a rebound to start the barrage of goals that included a power play marker from Shea Weber and another even strength goal from Kevin Klein. Barons starting goaltender, Jamie Holden, was pulled from the game after Milwaukee's second goal a the 5:54 mark and replaced by Nolan Schaefer, who has now made an appearance in the last seven consecutive games. Pikke Rinne, reassigned by Nashville of the NHL yesterday, started in goal for Milwaukee making six saves in the opening frame.

The Barons would not surrender coming back twice in the second period to tie the game at 4-4 after forty minutes of action. Steve Bernier's ninth goal of the year came on a power play to tie the game at 3-3. Milwaukee countered with their leading scorer, Darren Haydar, posting his 13th of the season with the man-advantage to re-establish the one-goal lead. The Barons quickly responded 35-seconds later with Matt Carkner sweeping home his third goal of the year to tie the game at 4-4. The Barons out-shot Milwaukee 10-9 in the period.

The teams settled down in the third period with only one goal scored. Unfortunately it was Milwaukee scoring the goal while they had a two-man advantage for a 5-4 win. Greg Classen beat Schaefer above the glove for the game-winner at the 6:08 mark of the third period.

The Barons return home for Wednesday night when they face the Chicago Wolves and Thursday against the Hamilton Bulldogs "" both games will start at 7pm EST. Tickets for both games are on sale now at the Quicken Loans Arena Box Office.
