Hamilton Bulldogs News Release


The Hamilton Bulldogs (11-18-0-2) will look to finish a stretch of three games in three days with a win when they take on the Toronto Marlies (15-14-0-0) at the Ricoh Coliseum this evening. The ‘Dogs have a record of 3-2-0-1 this season against the Marlies.

Toronto has won the last three meetings between these two teams, including a 2-1 victory the last time they met on Saturday, December 3 at Ricoh Coliseum. Francis Lemieux scored for the Bulldogs that game, while John Pohl and Kris Newbury potted third period markers to give the Marlies a come from behind victory. Hamilton netminder Jeff Deslauriers made 26 saves and was named the game's second star. Toronto goaltender J-F Racine stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced to earn the win.

The Bulldogs remain in seventh place in the North Division with 24 points and trail the Cleveland Barons (13-17-1-1) by four points for sixth position. The Marlies sit in fifth position in the North, six points ahead of the ‘Dogs.

- C Corey Locke leads Hamilton in scoring against Toronto this season with 2g-6a-8pts in six games.

- LW Jean-Francois Jacques is tied for 12th in scoring among rookies this season, posting 10g-11a-21pts in 28 games played.

- D Andre Benoit is tied for fourth among defensemen in goals with five and sits in a tie for second among blueliners in power-play markers with four.

- LW Brad Winchester had his four-game point streak snapped in the Bulldogs' 4-0 loss to the Hershey Bears last night at the Giant Center. The native of Madison, Wisconsin, posted 5g-4a-9pts over the stretch.

- C Francis Lemieux's three-game goal scoring streak came to an end last night.
