
Adenhart Leads Travs To 5-0 Win

Lawrence-Dumont Stadium, Wichita, KS - RHP Nick Adenhart (3-0) threw seven shutout innings to lead the Arkansas Travelers (5-8) to a 5-0 victory over the Wichita Wranglers (6-7). Now with a win in each of his starts, Adenhart allowed just six hits and two walks along with six strikeouts in his seven innings. Now in 18.1 innings in three starts, Adenhart has allowed just one run on 16 base hits. DH Greg Porter (1) and C Bobby Wilson (2) each hit a home run, while 3B Freddy Sandoval scored two runs and stole three bases.
Wichita had the first scoring opportunity, but Adenhart caught C Adam Donachie looking at a third strike to leave runners at first and third.
Wranglers RHP Billy Buckner (1-2) retired 12 of the first 13 batters of the game, but Porter began the third inning with a mammoth home run to center field for a 1-0 lead.
Sandoval drew a walk leading off the fifth inning and stole second base before advancing to third on Porter's groundout. With two outs, Buckner balked while getting the sign and Sandoval was allowed to score from third base for a 2-0 lead.
The Travs put the game away in the ninth inning against RHP Greg Atencio. CF Curtis Pride hit a leadoff single and advanced to third base on a hit-and-run groundout by Sean Rodriguez. Sandoval followed with a double to right field for a 3-0 lead. Wilson then yanked a two-run homer off the left-field scoreboard for a 5-0 lead.
Time of game was 2:17 and the paid attendance was 1,349.
The Travs and Wranglers play the second game of this four-game series Friday night. Arkansas sends RHP Chris Saenz (0-0, 8.59 ERA) to the mound while Wichita gets RHP Luke Hudson down from Kansas City on rehab. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.
