Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (April 19, 2007) - The inaugural Cinco Y Cinco Celebration, sponsored by the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, has been set for Friday, May 4 through Sunday, May 6 in the Sports-Entertainment-Arts District.
Buc Days activities, Hooks baseball at Whataburger Field, Sharks football at the American Bank Center, a concert with J.R. Castillo at Brewster Street Ice House and Cinco de Mayo Festival at Heritage Park hosted by KSAB Radio highlight the weekend.
"We're excited about partnering with our neighbors to give Corpus Christi a first-rate Cinco de Mayo celebration," Hooks president J.J. Gottsch said. "With the affordable, fun, family-oriented attractions we have in place that weekend, there should be a great turnout of local citizens and visitors."
Gottsch began discussions last fall with entertainment managers, civic leaders and tourism officials about pulling together elements in the SEA District.
