Hooks and Riders "Leaked" Out

Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
FRISCO, Texas - On an absolutely gorgeous evening in Frisco, the first game of a four-game series between the Hooks and Frisco RoughRiders was postponed - due to a leaky valve in the irrigation system under the playing surface at Dr Pepper Ballpark. The game has been rescheduled as part of a doubleheader this Saturday, April 21st, starting at 4:30 p.m.
Thursday's pre-game routine was uneventful, as both the RoughRiders and Hooks took batting practice as usual. But immediately after Corpus Christi's batting practice ended at 6:10, managers from both clubs were summoned to an area near second base along with Frisco officials and the head groundskeeper at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Discussions carried on for close to a half-hour, and at around 6:40, tarps were placed on both the mound and the area around home plate.
At about the same time members of the grounds crew began removing layers of dirt from the right side of the infield. That process was ongoing when the official announcement of the leaky valve and the game's postponement was made just a couple of minutes past 7 o'clock.
The postponement is the third this season for the Hooks. All have come on the road.
RHP Josh Miller, Thursday's scheduled starter for the Hooks, is expected to take the hill when the two clubs meet Friday night at 7:00 to get the series under way.
Corpus Christi's first roster move of the season took place before Thursday's scheduled game. RHP Chance Douglass, who was with the Hooks throughout the 2006 season, joined the club in Frisco and was announced as the starting pitcher for this Sunday afternoon's game with the RoughRiders. That start may be up in the air, however, given Thursday's postponement.
Douglass opened this season with Triple-A Round Rock, where in two starts he was 0-1 with a 7.71 ERA. RHP Tip Fairchild, who had started two games for the Hooks, was placed on the disabled list with a sore arm.
