Clinton LumberKings News Release
Grand Chute, WI - Johnny Adams homered in his third straight game for the Clinton LumberKings only run of the night in a 4-1 loss to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Thursday night at Neuroscience Group Field. LumberKings (5-3, 44-34) hitters struck out 13 times against Timber Rattlers (3-5, 34-43) pitching to snap a string of consecutive wins.
Adams home run came as the game's first run and only run allowed by Wisconsin starter Nelson Hernandez. With one out in the inning, Adams drove his seventh home run of the season into the LumberKings bullpen in right center field for a momentary lead.
Hernandez (8-5) earned the win for Wisconsin for a six inning outing in which he allowed one run on four hits while striking out five and not issuing a walk.
The Timber Rattlers answered the Adams homer in the bottom of the second inning to take the lead for good. Clinton starter Ray Kerr allowed a leadoff double to KJ Harrison which was followed two batters later by an RBI double by Gilbert Lara. Rob Henry then drove home Lara with an RBI single through the right side of the infield.
Wisconsin added to their lead in the bottom for the fourth inning. Kerr (3-7) issued an bases loaded walk to Darren Seferina to put the Timber Rattlers on top by two.
Kerr was given the loss for a five plus inning outing in which he allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits while walking four and striking out seven.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Timber Rattlers scored their final run of the night on an RBI double by Seferina.
Rodrigo Benoit earned his eighth save of the season with three strikeouts in the top of the ninth to preserve the Timber Rattlers win.
