Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the South Bend Cubs (affiliate of the Chicago Cubs) in the first game of a four-game series.

Season Series to Date: Dayton 5, South Bend 5 (at South Bend: Dragons 2, Cubs 1). Current Series to Date: first meeting.

Last Game: Wednesday: Dayton 11, Great Lakes 1. The Dragons scored five runs in the third inning and five more in the fourth to take a 10-0 lead. Hunter Greene worked six strong innings, allowing just three hits and one run for the win. Andy Sugilio had three hits including a home run and three RBI. Hendrik Clementina also added a home run. Jose Garcia had two hits and drove in three runs. Alejo Lopez and Raul Wallace also had two hits. The 10-run margin of victory was a season high for the Dragons.

2018 Team Notes

The Dragons swept the three-game set with Great Lakes (Monday-Wednesday) by a combined score of 19-5. This was their first series sweep since they swept Cedar Rapids in a three-game set at Dayton May 7-9.

Dragons pitchers posted a 1.29 ERA in the series against Great Lakes (28 IP, 4 ER). The Dragons have allowed three runs or less in five of the seven games played in the second half. Their second half team ERA is 3.23 compared to 5.31 in the first half.

The Dragons team batting average in the series with Great Lakes was .293. This was their highest team batting average in a series since they hit .320 in a four-game set May 18-20 (also against Great Lakes).

The Dragons have scored at least four runs in four straight games for the first time since June 2-6. Last night's 11-run outburst marked the first time the Dragons scored more than four runs since June 6 (they had scored four or less in 17 straight games).

The Dragons have committed just seven errors in their last 18 games.

2018 Individual Notes

Hunter Greene over his last seven starts: 36.1 IP, 28 H, 10 R, 9 ER, 9 BB, 41 SO, 2.23 ERA. Greene has made 14 starts. His ERA in his first seven starts was 10.06.

Andy Sugilio has five straight multi-hit games and is batting .429 (12 for 28) in the second half.

Leandro Santana is batting .311 (14 for 45) over his last 12 games to raise his season's average from .190 to .219.

Jeter Downs is batting .318 (7 for 22) in the six games in the second half, with one home run.

Malik Collymore has hits in all five games he has played in with the Dragons, batting .316.

Cory Thompson has posted a 1.67 ERA in 27 relief appearances. He has not allowed a run over his last six outings covering 10 innings (he also struck out the only batter he faced in the MWL All-Star Game on June 19 at Lansing).

John Ghyzel is tied for first in the MWL lead in saves with 13. Ghyzel was the winning pitcher in the MWL All-Star Game on June 19.
