Kernels, Bees Rained out Thursday

BURLINGTON, IOWA - Thursday's series opener between the Cedar Rapids Kernels and Burlington Bees was postponed due to rain at Community Field. Strong winds blew the tarp off the infield, and rain continued to fall onto the playing surface. A similar situation led to the June 14 cancellation of Burlington's scheduled tilt with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

The Kernels and the Bees will play a doubleheader Friday to start this four-game series. Game one is scheduled for 5:00 p.m., and game two will begin approximately 30 minutes after the first contest ends. Coverage of Friday's doubleheader will be broadcast on 1450 KMRY AM and 93.1 KMRY FM and also online at www.kmryradio.com and www.kernels.com.

Cedar Rapids' next homestand is a two-game series with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers that begins on Wednesday, July 4th. Fans can purchase tickets for all Cedar Rapids home games by visiting www.kernels.com, going to the Kernels Ticket Office, or calling (319) 896-7560. The Kernels Ticket Office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. On Sundays when the Kernels have a home game, the Kernels Ticket Office will open at 11:00 a.m.
