LOVELAND, Colo. - The Alaska Aces (45-18-7, 97 points) scored three times in the first period while goaltender Gerald Coleman earned his second shutout of the season, clinching the Brabham Cup for the top regular season record in a 5-0 blowout victory over the Colorado Eagles before a sellout crowd of 5,289 at Budweiser Events Center on Friday.

Five different goal scorers accounted in the win while Coleman helped the Aces set a new regular season record with 11 shutouts, surpassing the mark set by the 2008-09 team that advanced to the Kelly Cup Finals.

The Aces' fourth straight Brabham Cup, a league record, guarantees home ice advantage throughout the entire postseason and is also their fifth overall since entering the ECHL in 2003-04.

Coleman became the first goaltender to shut out Colorado at home this season.

The Aces wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, scoring three times in a span of 5:51 in the first period for a 3-0 lead. Peter Sivak's 30th goal, a wrister from the left circle, opened the scoring at 13:48.

John Ramage's first pro goal, a one-timer from the blueline that was set up by Brett Findlay, boosted the Aces lead to 2-0 with 2:54 left. Then with Colorado threatening on a power play, Drew MacKenzie's clear off the left glass found Turner Elson on a breakaway, who converted his fifth goal with 20.8 seconds left for a 3-0 bulge.

Evan Trupp's 17th goal, erasing an 0-of-25 power play drought, boosted the Aces lead to 4-0 at 5:39 of the second period. Brendan Connolly then buried his 22nd goal of the season with 5:50 left on a sharp angled bid from the left circle, chasing starter Dustin Butler.

New goaltender Eric Williams, making his professional debut, was tested early and stopped all 10 shots he saw but Colorado could get no closer with the Aces continuing a physical approach for the rest of the game.

They limited Colorado to six shots on goal for the third period, securing the victory.

Butler took the loss on 16 shots.
